Clinical educators are appropriate if they are presenting to a class in a formal learning setting. You will schedule a time to observe them in a teaching setting and describe the following:
1. How they designed their learning
Was this a prescribed curriculum. If so, by whom and why.
Were there distinct and clear objectives presented? What were they?
2. How did the educator set the tone of the class.
3. What were the learning strategies demonstrated – i.e. active versus passive.
4. Did they evaluate learning (survey or test to determine learner achievement of objectives)?
5. What are your overall impressions of the effectiveness of their teaching.
6. What would you do differently if you were in that position?
7. How did they demonstrate the qualities of leadership in their teaching?
