For this assignment, learners may utilize the policy statements listed below. You will select 1 policy statement related to hospital psychiatric social work. Read the policy statement several times. You may do additional research on this policy at the National Association of Social Worker’s website at www.socialworkers.org if it helps your understanding, although this is not required. Reflect on its impact on clients, workers, the agency and society. Then with the policy statement, answer the following questions in a paper of at least 3 full pages, not including the cover page or references:
In what way does this policy impact the psychiatric hospital social worker?
Why this is a position taken by the social work profession? What social work values and ethics does it demonstrate? (please check the NASW Code of Ethics and cite the values impacted by this policy, and describe)
In what ways do you agree and disagree with this policy statement?
What are your feelings, emotions, and thoughts about this policy?
Think about your own personal values. What values do you hold that agree or disagree with (some or all of) the policy?
Identify what approaches you will use to work toward resolving any ethical dilemmas regarding this subject in your work.
