Address each of the following questions:
1. Dr. Yach suggests we place disease prevention/promotion at the center around our issues of healthcare. What does he mean by this?
2. Describe a health promotion that is focused on primary prevention of one of the four risk factors Dr. Yach describes as resulting in 60% of the disease burden. What is the efficacy of this intervention? In other words, go find the statistics of how well it works utilizing any of the RE-AIM framework found in your research.
3.Reflect on Dr. Yach’s call to action “it starts with us.” He shared an expansion of markets which support health promotion and health prevention are a pathway to empowering the citizenry to protect their health. One such example is our smart phones which is now designed to protect our sleeping patterns with do not disturb features. Identify and explain how a product or health promotion tool that you could use in your daily routine promotes healthy outcomes. Was this available to your parents when they were your age? How is this an advantage in your generation?
4. What role do you see yourself having in your future or current profession to support health prevention/promotion? Draw from systems thinking presented in the first module: Population health broad perspective promotes the interactions within our community rather than silos.
