For each lab, you will write a lab report to record your findings and submit them to the assignment submission folder in your module. Each lab report should have the following sections. Refer to the Laboratory Rubric for grading criteria.

Purpose/Question- Write a sentence or two about what the lab activities purpose is or what question the lab is designed to answer.

Hypothesis– Based on the textbook reading and prelab reading write a hypothesis (your answer to the question the lab is designed to test). Write this in as an If /Then statement. For example: if a marble is placed on a ramp that is at a 45o angle then it will accelerate faster than on a 25o angle.

Data Tables/ Graphs – Place all data tables and graphs in this section. You may create your own data tables or copy and paste them in from the lab report assistant.

Analysis Questions- Answer all questions from the lab. Copy in each question found on the lab report assistant. Then answer each question with good sentence structure. A complete sentence includes the question.

Claim- This is to be a one- or two-sentence statement about the results of your laboratory work. For example: If the concentration of reagent A doubles, so does the rate of the reaction. An inappropriate claim would be: My product weighed 2.3 grams.

Evidence- This is a written explanation that supports your claims. How do you know that the rate of the reaction increases as the concentration increases? Include time vs. concentration data. Explain the meaning behind the data and calculations. Graphs, balanced equations, and calculations need to be interpreted and explained in order to count as evidence. Simply referring to them is not enough.

Reflection- How have my ideas changed? Discuss your initial question. Have your ideas changed? Do you have a new question? How do your results compare to other groups or the textbook or literature value? What connections did you make between the lab and lecture?

References- Include all sources used during the lab. Make sure to reference both within the text of your lab report and include the entire reference at the end of the report.
