Write a short essay (250-500 words) discussing at least two of the assigned articles you worked with (fixed and/or flexible) this week. A sentence or two of summary of each article is good, and a few sentences of compare/contrast of the articles is fine, What do you think about what these articles say? . However, the majority of the essay should be your own commentary. Share your own thoughts — your perspective and ideas responding to the articles. What do you think about what these articles say? You might relate the articles to your own experiences, to current events, or to something else youve read or listened to outside the class (e.g. a TV episode, a music album, a game). Use specific quotes/references to the assigned readings! Post this in the forum for this discussion in Moodle. TIP: This one is still an option even if you missed the in-class discussion! Assigned articles Articles = readings/podcasts/videos/etc. In most weeks, you will need to read three articles total — one fixed article, and two flexible articles. What does that mean? Typically, there will be one article that is fixed, assigned for everyone; and then two articles that are flexible, where you will get to choose the other two from a short list I provide. Both flexible and fixed articles are equally important. Fixed (Everyone will read/watch this article) . Cordova, What is it to be human in a Native American Worldview? Credo: This I believe (from The Philosophies of America Reader) {Note as of 9/27: link has been updated with the better, more accessible version!] Flexible (You will choose any two of the following four articles, according to your individual interests) CHOOSE any TWO: -The Debate Between a Man and His Soul (Excerpts) {Note: prominent themes of death} -Hannah Arendt, We Refugees -The Thunder, Perfect Mind -Gloria Anzalda, How to Tame a Wild Tongue from Borderlands/La FronteraShow more
