Group research project and Your task is to reflect on the concept of superheroes in the context of the Middle East, and more specifically the Gulf, and ultimately, come up with an idea for your own superhero for the UAE in modern times. You should investigate the following questions: 1. Are there mythologies in the Middle East that could be used as inspiration for your superhero? Describe what are the heroes/gods that existed and if they could serve as inspiration. If so, what characteristics would you want to use? 2.Research modern pop culture production in the Middle East, and more in depth into the Arabian Gulf: are there any superheroes created locally for the purpose of video games, comic books, movies, etc.? If yes, describe in detail. If no, why do you think this is the case, what characters are used instead? 3.The popularity of American superheroes in the Arabian Gulf: research how popular are the American superheroes in the cinema, comic books, parks, etc. What do you think makes their appeal? 4.Research the current important issues/developments for Emiratis on an international and national level. Which issues could be the ones that your own superhero could take on/refer to? 5.Present your own superhero(s) for the modern times UAE: what characteristics will he/she/they have? How representative would it be of UAE: how will it be grounded in Emirati national characteristics, its history, its people? What type of adventures will your superhero go through? The research project should be of a minimum 10 pages (without bibliography) and you should use a minimum of 10 academic sources.
