I have a commercial assignment due as per the attached I need to refer to my business within. Minster Group Ltd is a privately owned civil engineering and surfacing co SME with a T/O of circa 20M. Having grown from 0 to the above value over a period of 21yrs the marketing has been a combination of reputation, moving toward social media and PR company employment. Always conscious of improving the environment our company trades in we have been awarded for innovation and recycling to allow for greater outputs and to self promote the company in the process. This philosophy also maintains our leading edge in the psyche of our clients and ahead of the competitors. As the owner this is my drive and being autonomous the company benefits from a financial freedom larger companies struggle with in regard to new ventures. This financial freedom is countered however by Minster not having the insurance of the larger companies should any new ventures prove unsuccessful. Our opportunities are significant at the minute given the Covid ramifications and the vast amounts of money being invested in infrastructure. Our ability to carry out works nationwide with skilled operatives is most important and this is testament to our investment in our staff aligned with a low turnover of employees. Our industry is faced with real shortages of skilled operatives due to a lack of investment in this regard, proving ourselves as an innovative employer helps attract the next generation whilst safeguarding the existing. We are Lincoln based and have another office at RAF Brize Norton to allow for speedy repairs to this airfield and the surrounding bases. We also travel into London from here to service the MOD properties in the SE. This allows for other works for TFL. I regularly meet with cabinet MPs and am trusted by Whitehall as an advisor for the environment. Threats are over trading & cash flow aligned to the buoyant market and an inability to say no by the company. I see the personal interaction as a massive plus for the company believing our customers appreciate the company owners interest in themselves, however clearly this is unsustainable as the company grows and time constraints follow. Operating in a discipline of engineering lacking in professional companies ours represents itself well verbally and visually through the management team all themselves being well educated and spoken. Ambitions are to maintain organic growth through a continual delivery of operations for our Tier 1 clients, Balfour Beatty, Skanska, Amey, Vinci allowing these operations to be replicated in further areas (counties) of award for the above. Demographically the industry is in a dangerous place with regard to an aging workforce and lack of youngsters / next generation operatives, this is forefront of our minds in job retention and the maintaining of a content workforce.
