Describe a Significant Clinical Issue.Hello Class, You may begin posting on Sunday for credit. The first post is due Wednesday 11:59pm MT and the second post is due Sunday 1159 PM MT. Participation Requirements: You are required to post a minimum of two substantive posts in each graded discussion. These two posts must be on 2 separate days. The first post in each graded discussion must be completed by Wednesday, 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time (MT). Course Outcomes: Examine the sources of knowledge that contribute to professional nursing practice. Apply research principles to the interpretation of the content of published research studies. Identify ethical issues common to research involving human subjects. Evaluate published nursing research for credibility and clinical significance related to evidence-based practice. Recognize the role of research findings in evidence-based practice. Nurses are a large part of patient care. Evidence found from research and past on over time are used to help guide our practice. Why do you think using this evidence in practice is beneficial for everyone? It saves us time because we know that it is effective from the research and provides the best outcomes for the patient as found through evidence. Unfortunately, it can take around 17 years for only 14% of research to be implemented into new practice (Nelson-Brantley, & Chipps, E., 2021). The hospital I work at was having an increasingly high number of patient falls. The nurses and leadership decided this needed to change. They gathered evidence and literature to make a plan. They found that most falls were occurring in the bathroom or because of a bathroom event. The literature that was reviewed showed a strong connection with a healthcare team member staying with the patient to assist with getting up and getting back to bed and the reduction in falls. According to Avanecean, D. et al., 2017, patients that fall in the hospital have a longer length of stay. This means that these patients have poorer outcomes. When the healthcare team implemented their program that they titled, stay with me, the patient fall numbers declined significantly. I hope you can see how important evidence-based practice can be. What types of sources of evidence are available to help you make decisions when you are in the clinical setting?
