activity 2.2: Report – Max Amount of Virtual Memory
Introduction
Virtual Memory is a memory management technique that is used to create the illusion that you have more memory than you actually do by swapping out pages from main memory to secondary storage. It is important we know where to locate this on workstations and understand how to adjust it.
Activity Instructions
Create a one-page report to your superior that highlights the following criteria:
Research the maximum amount of virtual memory that can be accommodated on at least two different computing devices (Example: Workstation and a phone of your choice)
Cite the operating system for each device
List detailed steps you would follow to adjust the amount of virtual memory the device routinely uses
Tips for Success
Do not change the size of your virtual memory settings. This is only an exercise for research purposes only.
