In addition please consider the following: At the intersection of the study of culture, identity, and representation on the one hand, and the study of history, economy, and labour on the other, lies the analytic of racial capitalism. Emerging out of a larger body of work that can be described as the Black Radical Tradition, racial capitalism insists that race and capitalism cannot be thought separately — that the emergence of racial thinking is not the byproduct of class divisions between the workers and the bosses, as some classical analyses of capitalism might suggest, but is in fact central to capitalism as the current organizing force of our world. Of course, what race means in this context is not a stable idea but rather a dynamic, shifting system of power and difference. Understanding the history and complexity of these terms is central to situating diasporas within their broader political economic contexts.
