The students conduct a study independently and learn to apply the concepts they have learned.
Expectation horizon study:
Development of an economically relevant question
Search for suitable data sources (secondary analysis)
Analysis of the data on the basis of the set question with the help of statistical instruments
Writing a report (documentation, evaluation, graphs)
Submission: Electronic version (pdf) by e-mail by 13.11.2021, 12:00, including raw data and calculations (xls)
Length: max. 40,000 characters (incl. spaces; approx. 10-12 pages)
Structure/content of the report:
Executive Summary (in English)
Motivation: Justification of the relevance of the research question; hypothesis development: What relationship do you hypothesise?
Data source: Why this source? Seriousness of the source, information on data (e.g. survey period, etc.)
Descriiptive analysis: mean value, variance, etc.; conditional analysis also possible
Correlation analysis: Do you find evidence for your hypothesis?
(Multiple) Regression: More detailed analysis of the influencing factors
Conclusion: Summary of the most important results, classification, quality assessment

Evaluation criteria for the study:
Content
Data preparation (figures, tables, descriiption)
Application of the statistical instruments for the elaboration of correlations
Readability
Professional design
Adherence to the submission deadline – late submission leads to a lower grade!
