Is either of these an appropriate criterion to treat people differently, discriminate, or allocate resources? (Think about this question carefully.) If so, why? If not, why not?
Can you think of examples from the Bible to support your position? Locate and read some passages in the Bible about Samaritans, lepers, poor and rich people, and Gentiles. Hint: check Leviticus 13 and 14 and the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) for references.
What conclusions can you draw about ascribed and achieved characteristics?
