Define and describe endogenous rhythms. Explain the mechanisms that set and reset the biological clock. We have covered a good deal of material this semester examining the theoretical and biological bases of behavior. In this we have not only covered big picture concepts of brain and behavior and reviewed research examining the physiological processes that influence and exert some level of control over those specific concepts, we have discussed the impact of social and environmental factors, and we have highlighted areas where inaccuracies, misinterpretations, inequity and discrimination in science, medicine, research, and presentation of information clouds our understanding of not just specifically covered in this course, but neuroscience and science as a whole. Additionally, we had an online platform for this course and the online environment called for many trade-offs to be made for everyone to acquire the necessary information required to understand the course material (e.g., depth vs. breadth of what we can cover; fairness in timing and outside concerns vs. hard due dates, etc.). Now that the semester is wrapping up, for your semester writing assignment I want you to take a step back and practice your metacognitive skills and assess your learning, challenges, successes, and personal journey during this past semester, reviewing what we covered in class and what you feel you have learned by answering the prompts below:

In your opinion, what did you learn taking this course that you feel really matters for you/for life? This can be subject/material based, learning-in-general based, or “life-lesson” based. The term “really matters” can be defined as narrowly or as broadly as you would like.

For your answer, please:

Indicate what you learned while taking this class (i.e., referencing a specific concept we covered during this semester during the course lectures, discussions, covered materials, and assignments – what question(s) has this concept raised for you? What are you still wondering about? Can you identify one important concept, research finding, theory, or idea that you learned during the semester).
And
Describe why you feel it really matters (i.e., why do you believe that this concept, research finding, theory, or idea we covered is important? Why you chose this concept (surprising/interesting/unexpected/memorable/you felt you were most engaged as a learner), how this concept will benefit you in the future (your major/personal life/future career), why you defined this concept as something that “really matters.”)
The response to part B should be about 250-500 words but can be longer if you really need the space.

As always, please write succinctly, clearly and cite and reference primary peer reviewed sources appropriately. Please proofread your response and know that you may need to edit your text before submission.
Please SAVE your submission as a Microsoft Word document and be sure to name your submission as per the file name requirements for assessments, i. e.,
