Write a case study of an older person.Working with Older People This assessment is focused on developing an understanding of key issues facing older people in Australia and the range of roles social work plays in relation to these. You are asked to look at the life experiences of one older person and the factors impacting on them as they age. Description Interview an older person you know (it may be a relative, friend or acquaintance) about their life story and their experience of growing older. You will need to pay particular attention to the issues, systems and changes that person has experienced as they have grown older. These things may include health, mobility, independence, grief, access to and use of different services, housing, changing family relationships, impact of retirement, income, quality of life, experiences of discrimination, growing into new roles (eg. Grandparenting), relationships with friends, new opportunities. Write up a case study based on this interview. Using two theories we have covered in class discuss how the experiences of the older person you have interviewed can be understood in light of your chosen social work theories. You can use the following template to structure your case study: – Name and history of the person interviewed. – Major issues and experiences in relation to aging. – How can we understand the experiences of this person in relation to two theoretical perspectives in social work? This case study can be written in the first person or more formally. Any references used (eg theories) must be referenced as you would in other academic writing.
