It’s important to plan your staffing before you start hiring people because it ensures that all staffing needs will be appropriately met and that youll hire the correct amount of people to effectively get the jobs done. This will also help prevent unnecessary layoffs down the road. HR managers need to think ahead and work with other departments so the organization will be prepared for whats coming in the future, whether that means more or less available work. The textbook explains that the needs of the business may change depending on the economy, the season, and societal changes in our country. HR managers need to understand all these aspects of the business to better predict how many people are needed, what types of training are needed, and how to compensate people (pg. 50). Making a plan for staffing also increases cost-effectiveness because it ensures that the organization wont be spending more money than necessary on payroll and training and development programs. Which would you enjoy the most, and why? I think the most difficult part of the HRM plan is determining human resource needs. This requires forecasting and analysis to determine the future state of the company. This can be very difficult predict. For example, the Covid-19 pandemic most likely through a wrench in the human resource needs and forecasts of many companies, and severely impacted the workforce. Lockdown was a catalyst for many unforeseen challenges, and these challenges are still being dealt with and processed today. I would most enjoy the interview and hiring process. My first full time job after college was working front desk at a hotel. I met people from all walks of life and worked with people from all walks of life. It wasnt the best hotel, and we had an extremely high turnover rate. These experiences helped me develop my intuition regarding people; I can read people very well. I think I would excel in the interviewing and hiring arena because of this. I know when people put on an interview face or when they might not have the most experience for the position, yet can tell they are a hard worker. Based on the SWOT analysis you performed, develop two or three new objectives for the organization. I am a Pharmacy Technician at a drugstore. Strengths that this company has are being well known, so there is a lot of business and has loyal customers. This store is in the middle of smaller towns nearby so more towns use this location. The store location I work at had about 200 Covid shots a day, which is more than other nearby pharmacies. Now we offer the Covid booster, so a lot of customers count on us for their health. A lot of insurance forms are accepted here compared to other drugstores in my town. My drugstore also offers a lot of coupons which encourage customers to shop while waiting for their prescription. Weaknesses that my store has is that during busy times, there’s not as many workers that can limit the overdue prescriptions and the long wait lines in drive through and at pick up. As well as our automated system tells customers their prescription is ready when it’s not or we’re still finishing up on it. Our technology also freezes a lot which makes us have to restart and/or can’t finish a prescription. For opportunities, the company is rethinking and being creative with going green with prescription bags and emailing receipts, as well as interacting more with customers with more patient care calls. There is also having the COVID shots and having more scheduling than when the COVID shots first came out so it can be more convenient for customers. For threats, there is another main competitor drugstore in my town, which is not as busy, and due to that they have a faster pick up rate. There is also a threat if there is not a prescription done on time, a customer could go to another drugstore. (Write a comment under this post with at least 110 words)Show more
