Nurse leaders are expected to lead through change that directs their organizations into the future. One way to bring about change is through creating a culture that encourages innovation. Roussel et al. (2020) outline the stages in innovation adoption as being knowledge, persuasion, decision, implementation, and confirmation. An innovative leader understands that the previously mentioned stages of innovation are all tools that must be learned and utilized to create a culture open to change.
