You may write about each of the videos, or choose the 3 or 4 that you liked the best to write about. You can include compare/contrast information from class or from your own personal experience with dance. Most of these videos are of dance forms that we have not studied in class. This is not a research paper, but if you do look up information about any of these dances, you must credit your source. This is NOT a research paper, it is a paper written about your experience viewing world dance performances. While you can mention other aspects of your experience, if you see a live performance (like the food, costumes, lighting, etc.), the majority of your paper should be about the dance(s). A good way to begin is to ask yourself what you liked or did not like about the performance. Why, specifically do you think or feel as you do? Use details to support your opinions. What, specifically made you think, feel or have that opinion? If you like or dont like something, you have a reason. You need to ask yourself what that reason(s) is. What might the choreographer or dancer be trying to communicate? Think about describing: Quality of movement how are the dancers moving, (fluidly, sharply,p ercussively, softly, gently, heavy, light, etc.) Groupings of dancers, levels in space Your thoughts, feelings, reactions, etc, to what you are seeing You may use compare/contrast information from class or from your previous experience with dance.
