Using the following case, analyze for the purposes of: 1. Identifying the values/principles involved that make this case an ethical dilemma (dont forget principles and values incumbent upon you as the leader engaging in the analysis (be sure to reference one or more items from the list in the activity titled, Breaking Down Dilemmas in this analysis), 2. Describe how the values/principles involved are in conflict with each other, 3. Include reasonable ideas about what results each value/principle would create for those involved and the team (include descriptions of pros and cons). This is a 3-4 page paper, using APA formatting (including citing as appropriate). The Case A member of staff, name Elizabeth has just returned to work after taking special leave to care for her injured husband. Elizabeths family relies on her full-time position at the organization even more now that her husband is still in recovery. Shes been having difficulties with her husbands in-home rehabilitation, and this has caused her to miss a number of morning meetings with the team. Additionally, for the same reasons related to her husbands recovery, Elizabeth sometimes has to leave the office early. Elizabeth is very competent in her work but her absences from meetings and leaving early are putting more work and pressure on the team. You are her manager, and you know factually that the there is more work and pressure as a result of Elizabeths actions. Mario, a male colleague is beginning to make comments such as a womans place is in the home, and has started to undermine Elizabeth whenever he can find the opportunity. Marios actions are increasing the pressure and stress on Elizabeth, and the team. The following sources can be used Ethical Dilemma as Conflict All ethical dilemmas are clashes. They are clashes of some values, perhaps rights, obligations or duties. If there is a clear answer or direction, then there is no dilemma (perhaps a character issue, but not a dilemma). A conflict between two possible actions for which there are multiple favorable (but not conclusive) courses of action, and multiple (but not conclusive) reasons against the same courses of action.
