Write a paper that will act as a proposal for your company to implement an Active Directory (AD) server for centralized administration of your network.
Define the problem your current company is having because administration isn’t centralized and the negative impact it has on your organization. Think about a real life company and come up with a possible problem they’d have that a centralized server would fix.
-Recommended Solution
Discuss the new AD server and all of the features you’d enable. For every feature, explain how it will benefit the company.
-Advantages/Disadvantages
Go into detail about what your company will gain by moving forward with a new AD server. Then go into detail about any possible disadvantages (there will be some major ones, so don’t pretend everything is all candy canes and sugar plums).
-Costs
Research the hardware/software requirements of such a server and then price a server from a reputable vendor (Dell, HP, etc.). Don’t forget to include costs of Windows licenses and estimate labor time for IT staff to implement the entire project!
-Future Needs
Discuss how this project will help your company in the future.
Obviously, you could be making up a lot of this for a company that doesn’t really exist. I simply want to see that, using the information you’ve learned thus far, you can systematically think through everything as if you were actually working as IT staff for a company and wanted to propose this to your boss.
