Create a focus paper exploring the impact of one, or more, military theorists on current U.S. military strategy, joint doctrine, and/or joint warfighting concepts. Using contemporary examples, students will assess whether the U.S. follows its warfighting doctrine/concepts and the ramifications. Choose Russia for a similar theoretical assessment. An important outcome of the focus paper is recognizing influential differences between the competitor and the U.S. Known failures from either country are a good method to demonstrate the misapplication of theory to modern warfighting, or its lack of modern relevance, or the countries inability to follow their doctrine.
