Many antiques and antiquities can easily be purchased online, especially on auction-based sites like eBay.
– Identify two items of historical value from an auction-based website. These items must be from a country in a conflict zone (i.e. Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.), and for each item, you are to provide a picture of the item, a brief descriiption of the item (i.e. 2-3 sentences), where the item is reportedly coming from (i.e. the seller’s location), the current auction price (and if a buy now option is available – how much), and whether or not there is a certificate of authenticity being offered with the item.
– Include an assessment of the relative ease or difficulty of fencing stolen artifacts from another country and a discussion about a strategy to combat the trafficking and sale of antiquities.
