Use this scenario: 21 year old male, who is a college student, presents with a new diagnosis of Generalized Anxiety Disorder. He has never been on any medications. He is seeking treatment to control anxiety and is also requesting an as needed medication for when it gets really bad. He does have a history of alcohol abuse when he was in high school. He reports he does not drink like that anymore. He denies any significant past medical history or allergies. Vital Signs are WNL. Part 1: Utilizing the information in the scenario you chose, include the following topics in your paper: a) Discuss the each of classes of drugs that may be used for your clients diagnosis a. Include why this class would or would not be appropriate for your client b. Include pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of the drug classes b) Identify which specific medication or medications you would prescribe for your client. (Please note: the maximum number of specific medications we would expect you to discuss is 2. Depending on the research you present you may only need to discuss 1.
