Background: Ah the newspaper. That folded up news of the day that has been part of many Americans daily traditions for many decades. Whether it was reading the newspaper with a cup of java in the morning or after work so you can discuss the news of the day with a spouse, the newspaper has been an important source of information for generations of people. The newspaper used to be a powerful source for reading sports scores, stock market numbers, world events, honor role listings, crosswords, advertisements, local news, etc. In recent years, the newspaper has been on a major downslide: readership is down, prices have gone up, and layoffs have been pervasive throughout the country. This reality has forced newspapers to rethink their looks, story ideas, and marketing to stay in business. Our own Baltimore Sun is currently fighting for their lives. Assignment: Select one of the following newspapers: USAToday, Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, New York Times, or a local newspaper like the Dundalk Eagle. Choose which newspaper has the best chance of survival.
