Write the main reason why you went to the US from Ethiopia was for educational and economic opportunities. Unfortunately, lack of food, clean water, education, and access to healthcare is a reality for most Ethiopians including me. I can’t stress the lack of food and the uncertainty of where the next meal comes from every day. After I moved to the US, food was no longer an issue. I worked full time while going to school full time. It was not easy but the experience that I had back home made me strong to stick to my plan. I graduated from university with honors. I envision myself practicing medicine in medically underserved areas because it is what motivated me to be a doctor. Regardless of what I had to go through to get here, I am lucky because I live in a country full of opportunities.
