TASK: Research and write a comprehensive analytical essay about the key theories and models of teaching. The essay will investigate the historical roots of literacy pedagogy and how each of the major theories can inform the contemporary classroom. The essay will be based on the unit text as well as at least 15 extra scholarly sources. A scholarly source is one which has, an author, a publication date, verifiable intext and end text references. A good place to start is the University Library data base. Google Scholar can also be helpful however many good references are behind paywalls. However, you can use the information from Google Scholar to search for your findings through the Curtin library where it will be freely available to you. Consider: The core theory of each pedagogy and the key models/demonstrations/examples of practice that support its use Identify how particular pedagogies support diverse learners Discuss how the success of the pedagogies can be measured through assessment and feedback Focus on how it requires an integrated approach of all four pedagogies to create a successful community of learning in an upper primary English classroom Demonstrate your ability to produce a well-constructed formal essay with strong academic writing and referencing. PURPOSE: This essay will demonstrate your understanding of the pedagogies AND demonstrate your ability to illustrate their implementation in an upper primary classroom as well as see the contrasting views which prevail about teaching English.
