Explain why there are different federal agencies which advocates for womens health, one of which is the U.S. Department of labor, Womens Bureau which is more focus with women on the workforce. Its goal is to seek fair treatment and to reduce barriers for women to access and retain better opportunities. Women are being provided fair chance to acquire jobs that were only considered for men. It also advocates for fair compensation/ equal pay by providing education about their rights as employees and to educate employers about their legal obligations to their employees. Another is the Office on Womens Health (OWH) which aims to improve womens health through policy, education, and model programs. They fund research related to girls and womens health. The Office of Research on Womens Health (ORWH) in partnership with NIH also create and promote research to improve womens health through biomedical and behavioral research. (Schadewald et.al., 2020) Some pregnant women may have limited access to health care due to poor socioeconomic status. There are several options we can offer to them, some of which are applying for Medicaid or Childrens Health Insurance Program (CHIP). There are also state and federal programs that provide free screening, one of which is the free annual pap smear and mammograms through the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP). They help women who have low income and those who are uninsured to have access to timely breast and cervical diagnostic screening and treatment. (CDC, 2021) They can also be referred to community health centers who offer prenatal care, immunizations, general primary care and even referral to a specialist. Here at Ohio, there is a local, non-profit organization called Planned Parenthood for greater Ohio which provides reproductive health services, sex education, and resources. They have 17 health centers throughout Ohio, and they cater for the minority, those with low income, as well as the LGBTQ+ community. reply with 1 reference pleaseShow more
