Write a paper on investigating the aging boom in China.Traditionally, in China, elderly parents have lived with their children and been cared for in the family. With an aging population, some elderly Chinese people are choosing to live in nursing homes rather than with their children. But many young people feel this change to tradition is wrong: that it is shameful and unfilial to let their parents go to a nursing home, so they wish to prevent them from doing so. Often elderly people also like to help their children at home with household chores.
This study will investigate the views of a sample of elderly people and their children in China about how the elderly are choosing to spend their later years, and the issues underpinning contemporary conflicts between the elderly and their young.
In the context of aging in China, where do the elderly prefer to spend their time in old age? This study will attempt to examine and explore this question from a variety of theoretical perspectives, at the structural as well as psychological levels.
