Write a paper on Comparative Financial Analysis-Tesco and Sainsbury’s supermarkets.(i) When is your new hand-in date?
The dissertation is due in on the 23rd September 2021. The TPO has attached to you to the necessary flow for resubmitting your dissertation in WISEflow.
(ii) What grade did you receive for your first attempt?
The TPO tell me that you achieved a D- for your first attempt.
(iii) What feedback on your first attempt did your markers provide?
The following feedback was provided through Blackboard Learn: “The report compares Sainsbury’s and Tesco using their financial indices. There is no clear research aim with very brief overview of limited literature. Methodology is weakly designed with no sufficient details and justifications. Basic results are produced with superficial analysis. The report is readable but needs substantial improvement in terms of flow, structure and referencing.”
(iv) My comments about your existing dissertation
I read through your first attempt dissertation some time ago. I am afraid that I agree with your makers’ comments. Your first attempt at your dissertation was not very strong, I am afraid.
(v) What you now need to do?
To stand a realistic chance of passing 2nd time around, you will therefore need to do a great deal of extra work on your dissertation between now and September. In ‘big picture’ terms, you will need to rewrite all of your chapters and revisit and improve the quality of your data analysis. In detailed terms, you will need to provide: (i) an improved and far clearer research aim and objectives in your introduction chapter, (ii) a far clearer statement of your research problem and question, (iii) a greatly improved literature review chapter, (iv) greatly improved explanation and justification of your primary research methods in your research methodology chapter, (v) a far greater depth of analysis in your findings chapter, (vi) a full discussion of how your findings fit in / do not fit in with the existing academic literature in a follow-up discussion chapter, and finally (vii) a discussion of the resultant implications for theory and for future research in an improved conclusions chapter.
