( I chose Olivellas in dallas texas) Students are to volunteer in a position that exposes you to food information, to the laws or regulations that impact how the site/organization deals with food, and to the health-related aspects of the work (e.g., safety and health guidelines, food storage, food preparation, food marketing and sales). You should get an orientation, or have regular access to a supervisor (as you’re filing, cleaning, or packing care boxes) who can teach you about the field of food services/sales/agriculture, and who can ensure you are learning something more than volunteerism.
