The Texas Department of Corrections (TDOC) is creating a new program to reduce recidivism amongst its inmate population. This new program will focus on cognitive behavioral therapy. The new program will be offered at 10 prisons in each of the 6 regions. TDOC is interested in knowing if inmates that go through this program have significantly lower recidivism. The TDOC supervises over 150,000 inmates and each program can take 100 inmates. The target of the program is first-time violent offenders. The police department wants to launch this program on March 1, 2015. The TDOC is also curious if the program works well for both men and women. a) Discuss the evaluability assessment you would conduct. b) Detail how you would design the study. You need to discuss all relevant methodological issues including how you would obtain a comparison group, what type of measurement you will do, and what type of research design you will use. You also need to describe the other design and measurement techniques that could have been employed and justify why you are not going to use them where appropriate. c) Discuss the threats to internal validity that may impact the results of your study.
